Brabant Cabinet early 18th century

Brabant Cabinet early 18th century

Cupboard - Oak
Netherlands Renaissance - 17th century
Brabant five-door cupboard, also called a milk cupboard, but that's a romanticized term.

Authentic piece of furniture, found in both Belgian Brabant and Dutch North Brabant.
The proportions are also characteristic: wider than high.

Beautiful blond oak, quarter-sawn.
The door panels feature a beautiful division with inlaid borders.
This type of workmanship only emerged at the end of the 17th century.
Therefore, I date the cupboard to the late 17th or early 18th century.
320-350 years old and beautifully preserved.

The hinges have been replaced at some point - in the detailed photos, I have examples where you can still see the imprint of the original 17th-century hinges. Those black spots with the hole in the center were the shape of the wrought iron—it ran diagonally through the wood to emerge at the front.
There, they were visible as sturdy, short jaw hinges.
This method is only found in Brabantian cabinets.
I once owned another 16th-century Brabantian cabinet that still had these hinges.

Another interesting feature is that the hardware, including the lock plate and pear-shaped pull, is tin-plated. (Original)
These pear-shaped pulls are typical of early Dutch furniture.

Six small drawers were later added behind the top center door.
See detail photo.

Fine Dutch 17th century Table Cabinet

Fine Dutch 17th century Table Cabinet

Rare and virtually unique piece of furniture:

a mid-17th-century table cabinet – circa 1650.

Table cabinets from the 17th century are already rare – this one has a dream interior for the numismatic collector.

Exceptionally beautifully made with beautiful and artistic carving of acanthus leaves and, in the center of the door next to the diamond, sea-creature-like griffins.

Beautiful and deep patina.

I have waxed this piece several times with wax that I make myself.

In addition to real beeswax from the beekeeper, I also use carnauba wax.

This gives the wax an extra shine.

The interior is certainly also special: in the 18th or 19th century, it was fitted with six drawers – intended for storing coins and medals.

Jewelry would certainly also be a possibility.

The felt is old but clean and has a subtle, subdued olive green color.

The lock is original, as is the key. (It works.)

Below the door is a wide drawer.

This drawer was later fitted with adjustable compartments.

Beautiful side panels: quarter-sawn oak.

Next to the door, the stiles feature beautiful pilasters with fluting.

For a coin collector, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

I only ship to countries within the EU.

Buyers from other countries must arrange their own shipping:

UPS, DHL, or FedEx will handle this.

Book case Empire -1820

Book case Empire -1820

A beautiful, pure-grained Empire bookcase. Circa 1820.

Beautiful mahogany wood, recently upholstered with red felt inside—a beautiful job.

The previous owner also installed interior lighting.

Upstairs, under the cornice, is a drawer—also upholstered with red felt.

The doors feature panes of old-line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm">Black columns flank the doors in front of the side jambs—a typical Empire feature.

Fine Buffet 18th century

Fine Buffet 18th century

A beautiful and stylish Louis XVI buffet.
Circa 1775.
The top is veneered with very special Cuban mahogany – an extinct wood species. This mahogany was already very valuable and special in 1775.

A surprising and playful piece of furniture.
This buffet is a true buffet.
You can fold up the top, making the buffet 154 cm high.
This section then reveals a beautiful – original – pewter pitcher.

Underneath this pitcher is a pewter basin for ice cubes and water for chilling wine or champagne.
Everything is in good and usable condition.
Four shelves can be folded out for storing wine glasses, for example.
Two more shelves can be pulled out on the sides to accommodate more tableware.
The drawers have compartments lined with green felt for cutlery.
The felt is clean and in like-new condition.

This is how people sometimes dined in the dining room back then.

The doors feature rocailles, intarsia work of irregularly shaped shells that were very popular at the time.

There are also very artistically inlaid piping.

I do not ship to countries outside the EU.
Customers from those countries must arrange their own transportation.
This can be arranged in consultation with me.
You are always welcome to arrange your own transportation if you prefer.

Fine large rose kilim, Karabach

Fine large rose kilim, Karabach

A beautiful kilim with a rose pattern.
Truly stunning to behold.
This pattern was popular in Karabakh for a time.
Very heavy quality, suitable for flooring.

Beautiful natural plant-based colors.
You can tell it's hand-dyed wool by the color variations—especially in the red field. This is because no factory-made wool or synthetic dyes were used, but plant-based dyes produced in small quantities.
This is called abrash to connoisseurs.
Collectors appreciate this and it's a hallmark of quality.
Large size: 350 x 270 cm.
In excellent condition.

17th Century Dutch Pilasterkast

17th Century Dutch Pilasterkast

There's furniture, and then there's furniture art.

This piece of furniture belongs to the latter group.

Circa 1650.

Dutch Pilaster Cabinet, this is a classic model, pure Renaissance,

very richly crafted, as such a cabinet should be.

And no matter how richly and carefully crafted, the whole remains harmonious.

Beautiful carving, decorated here and there with small pieces of ebony.

These cabinets always have a base cabinet and a separate upper cabinet.

The oak is quarter-sawn.

The sides have beautiful panels and rails with refined profiles.

There are two drawers underneath. The cabinet stands on ball feet.

The locks from the 17th century were replaced in the 18th century.

Both the back legs have been restored.

Fine Court Copboard - 17the century Tridern

Beautiful and rare 'court cupboard' or Tridern.
Style and period: Jacobean. (1603-1625)
This piece of furniture is therefore 400 years old.

The cupboard served as a sideboard.
We see four horizontal layers that make up the cupboard.

The top layer is open and was used to display precious objects.
Below the open section is a frame with deeply carved vines.
Dionysus or Bacchus in the middle?

Below that is a layer with two doors and a closed section with a central arch, Renaissance influence; you often see these arches on Dutch 17th-century cupboards.
In this arch is a Tudor rose.

Beautiful deep patina.
Quarter-sawn oak.
At the bottom, we see two thistles with flowers in the panels.
The thistle is the Scottish emblem; at that time, Scotland and England were united, and this image commemorates that.

This is an authentic, unique piece of art historical value.

I do not ship to the U.S. or countries outside the EU.
Switzerland and Norway are not part of the EU.
These buyers must arrange their own transport with a carrier.

Fine !7th Century Zeeland Cabinet

Fine !7th Century Zeeland Cabinet

Beautiful Zeeland cabinet, circa 1650.
Beautiful patina.

Very beautiful and richly finished, yet harmonious with many refined details.
Typical of a Zeeland cabinet are its proportions: low and wide.

At this time, the people of Zeeland were extremely wealthy through trade (Dutch East India Company) and shipping, and they reflected this in their furniture. This cabinet is an example of this.
Four doors with a wide drawer between them.

These cabinets always have a separate upper cabinet that rests on the lower cabinet.

The moldings in the doors are called cornice moldings.
Also typical of the Renaissance.
Very beautifully and artistically carved lion heads.
The Zeelanders have a lion standing half in the water on their coat of arms.

Note also the beautifully detailed sides with inlays.
